Recent article featuring the Federal Alternative Jet Fuels R&D Strategy (FAJFS) and NJFCP.
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) have recently released the Federal Alternative Jet Fuels Strategy. This interagency effort, initiated in March 2013, includes nine federal agencies and departments. The National Jet Fuels Combustion Program (NJFCP) meets one of the key strategic goals under Fuels Testing and Evaluation section. More information regarding the Federal Alternative Jet Fuels Strategy and other OSTP/NSTC reports can be found here with a link to the full report available here.
Work is underway to develop a comprehensive foundational database of current and newly emerging alternative fuels. This database will integrate existing jet fuel data into a common archive, providing guidance for future design and certification of novel jet fuels. Various government agencies and research groups across the country are contributing data to this effort including oversight from both FAA and NIST. The aim of the database is to provide a centralized resource for academic, government, and industry partners in fuel policy and research, helping advance the integration of these new alternative jet fuels.
